Baxter Community Center

Inserting public art into Louisville’s underserved communities is something OSRS Mural Co. takes pride in and believes improves the lives of those that interact with it. We took on this project knowing the importance of the surface and the historical context this building holds. The Baxter Community Center has been open and serving the locals since 1969. We partnered with the Louisville Public Housing Authority and local artist Donyalle Jackson (@artbydonniej) to host serval community meetings to determine the murals contents. A constraint of the mural was that it needed to cover an older existing mural and not continue onto any unpainted brick. We created a design showcasing Clarence Russell Sr., the namesake of the Russell Neighborhood. We executed this mural in great time with the help of Donyalle and capped off 2025 with an excellent piece that will serve the community for years to come.
